Extra wide shoes

Extra wide (4E for men) is harder to find in stores. These are the extra wide and XX-wide pairs we have right now.

What do wide sizes mean?

Shoe widths in North America use letters. For men, D is the standard width, 2E (also written EE) is wide and 4E is extra wide. For women, B is standard, C or D is wide, and E or 2E is extra wide. On our site you’ll see this as “(Wide)” or “(Extra Wide)” next to the size, so a men’s “10 (Wide)” is a 10 2E.

Brands don’t all cut their widths exactly the same. If you already own a wide shoe that fits well, start with the same brand. And check the size notes on each product page, some styles run wider or narrower than usual.

How do I know if I need wide shoes?

A few signs: the shoe feels tight across the widest part of your foot even when the length is right, your little toe rubs on the side, or the upper bulges out over the sole after a few weeks. Going up half a size to get more room usually doesn’t fix it. You get extra length you don’t need, and your heel slips.

Feet also swell during the day, so measure or try shoes in the afternoon. Not sure? Order your usual length in wide. If it’s not right, send it back, the return label is on us in Canada and the USA.
